Dear members of Anash,

We write to you tonight as there are calls on social media for people to take to the streets tomorrow, April 15th, in major cities worldwide to launch an economic blockade and shut down in solidarity with Gaza.

Organizers are calling for action in each city, stating that “we will identify and blockade major choke points in the economy, focusing on points of production and circulation with the aim of causing the most economic impact.” Several disruptive events are being advertised for New York.

According to the New York Police Department, there is no credible threat to the Jewish community. There are also no known plans at this time to disrupt specifically the Jewish community.

We are calling on the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the NYPD and Shomrim. We will continue to monitor the protests and keep the community updated if anything of concern develops. On the same note, we are calling on the community not to change their plans or schedules. Stand tall and proud as Jewish New Yorkers. We have every right to walk the streets safely as American citizens.

As per the Rebbe’s Horaos, in times like these, one should increase in Torah study, prayer, especially reciting Tehillim, and giving Tzedaka. These actions will hasten the Geulah Shleima in the month of Nissan.
