CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Halloween is known among Crown Heights residents as ‘Chag Habaitzim’ [the egg holiday], where groups of youths rove around in groups and pelt eggs at residents.
A group of three Bochurim walking on Montgomery St near Kingston Ave, were confronted by a group of close to 15 youths who pelted them with eggs, and they got physical as well.
Shomrim received the call from one of the Bochurim and patrolling members responded within moments and managed to apprehend 2 of the group, whom the Bochurim identified as their assailants.
The incident took place at around 8:30 in the evening where large crowd walked into the three Bochurim and surrounded them, pelted them with the eggs at close range along with punching one of the Bochurim and shoving another, the third Bochur was walking slightly ahead of the group and managed to get a good look at the actual assailants.
Good responses from the extra officers from the 60th and 71st Precinct yielded the arrest of the two youths, and were both booked for assault and harassment, sending a message that such behavior will not be tolerated.

Each year our local 71st Precincts reaches out to local grocery stores asking them not to sell eggs to minors, with good cooperation, yet teens manage to get hold of them regardless and terrorize Crown Heights. Police reports that these incidents are not limited and plague the entire city.
