NYPD Tickets Double Parked Cars during Street Cleaning

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Motorists were punished this afternoon, yet again, by the police departments traffic division. Over 10 drivers who parked on Crown Street between Albany and Kingston during street cleaning got a $115 double parking ticket.
According to the Department of Transportation “Double parking of passenger vehicles is illegal at all times, including street cleaning days, regardless of location, purpose or duration” meaning that when people double park during alternate side parking they can be legally ticketed.
Historically, there has been no enforcement of these tickets during street cleaning, but in this case the over zealous traffic agent, in this case officer L. Trotman, scored the city over $1,000 in fines.
“Better I just not move my car for alternate side parking, it would cost me less” said one fuming motorist, referring to the fine for not moving ones car is $45 compared to $115 for double parking.
