Op-Ed: I Think We Need to Start a New Playgroup

by Chaim Fine
In 5733 the Rebbe refused to come out to the big Sunday Lag BaOmer parade planed for that year! How can I come out when certain things in the community prevent me from coming!

Its not politics, its human nature! People are human and wired a certain way. A very famous philosopher once said “the greatest need of a person is to be needed”. Chassidus and Yiddishkeit are supposed to show us how to live a life higher then der velt, and how Hashem wants us to control our selves and make this place a dira, to make a Kidush Hashem, to be a light onto the nations. Yet the bottom line is everyone still has a Nefesh Habehamis.

The Rebbe use to explain that the Yatzer Harah disguises himself as a big Chossid and a Talmid Chochum, in 5733 even in front of the Rebbe, human nature took over, no stories of the good ol’ days, no more if the Rebbe was still here B’gashmeus etc. its ALL BULL! We fought like babies then and were doing it now.

Our community activists on both sides are a sham. Its all run by a bunch of people who would have had the chutzpa to fight back then as well.

So what am I getting at?

I am going to be short and straight to the point, I don’t know all the details of the ongoing whoever vs. Shomrim trial nor do I care, what bothers me is that well meaning Jews have the nerve to pursue their justice all the way to getting other Jews locked away for a good few YEARS! What have we come to, how did YOU and I let this happen?!

I know, I know, they deserve it, they had it coming, they should have not started, ya-da-ya-da, If you find yourself right now agreeing with the last few excuses then don’t Daven this morning because I am sure Hashem doesn’t want to hear you! And don’t touch a Tanya or Likutei Sichos because I am sure the Rabaim don’t want you touching their Torahs.

But sadly the bottom line is its all about “ich” its all Teva B’nei Odom, everyone needs to be “needed” everyone wants to be a Rebbe instead of a Chossid, everyone thinks that they and only they know what the Rebbe wants, and what Chumros are impotent, but when all is said and done its so sad we have come to this, with so many “emesdikeh” people on both sides thinking their fighting for what the Rebbe wants… I can only imagine what he is thinking right now!

As for what I think... we should start a playgroup for everyone whose name has appeared on a paper that has come to my door step in the past year... its ridicules and sad, it really is.
