I don't think showing the opposite of Ahavas Yisroel on Erev Yom Kippur is the real answer.
The order of things is #1) Investigate whether he really said it, or it was just said in his name for whatever reason. #2) If he did say it and your Rav says differently than follow your Rav. #3) Name calling is always OUT OF PLACE especially to a learned person. If we don’t want Misnagdim to make fun of us and our Rabbonim we should set the example by not making fun of their Rabbonim – This madness has to stop.

I am not a Misnaged and neither am I Lubavitch, but I do not appreciate the comment of Rabbi Pupick because its simply is showing the opposite of ahavas yisroel. Comments like that do elevate Sinas Chinam.. which is awful especiially at times such as these.
Rav ELyashiv's comment should be researched and the Rav does not say anything for no reason.
And as for the Melamed .. i do appreciate your comment .. may you be granted many years of learning without financial difficulties and health.

i didnt know that calling a misnaged a misnaged is name calling !

but on erev yom kipur you can remember that if the shochet is a misnaged YOU cant eat from his shchita but that misnaged could.

It's still all hearsay! There were a few notable instances recently reported of hearsay said erroneously in the name of Rav Elyashiv Shlita. What seems silly to me is that, when an opinion is heared, hearsay or not, there are some that have to somehow show that their rabbonim, (chabad rabbonim) are more learned by asking them what they have to say, knowing that the the opinion in itself is vague and needs clarification, as well as authentication from the source! being so, other views are automatic, especially in regards to the halacha of the matter, which the quoted opinion does not contest. So if anything, the quote should be authenticated before reporting on it. How amateur and unprofessional of crownheights.info news service! (along with other jewish news services equally!) It like going around saying look what I heared? Let me tell you about it, as well as what others had to say on it too! How incredulous!! And another thing, please have kavod to the rabbonim and dayonim mentioned, it is fit to add shlita.

Why do Lubavitchers always have to call out “Misnagid”? I have always found this offensive and really dont think it helps in bringing redemtion. It's not achdus, there are always “other” groups to point fingers at and there always will be. That's not what life as an eved Hashem is about. Moshiach will never come (whoever he may be) if we cant stop blaming others!

According to the Vosizneias quote of a question to Rav Elyoshiv he answered that technically it's ok but better not to.
The same would apply to sneakers, because the question was about shoes that one wears all year long if one may wear them on Yom Kippur IF they are not made of leather.Apparently this was not made clear to Rabbi Osdoba as he apparently thought this was only a psak regarding Crocks only.
Apparently the rationale was that according to some Rishionim no shoes even non leather are allowed so here were non leather shoes are just as comfortable it's ro'uy to be machmir like these shittos.

-- sounds a bit odd. I assume what he really said is that it isn't considered a ”shoe“, rather a ”malbush". A malbush is a beged, I believe. Only wooden shoes have the issue of not being a beged at all regarding carrying on shabbos.
