2 Robbers Killed in Shootout at a Brooklyn Store
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A Brooklyn variety-store owner was critically wounded during a shootout Monday night in which he shot and killed two robbers, the police said.
The police said they thought the two dead men were armed and had attempted to rob the store, located at 1051 Nostrand Avenue, between Sterling and Lefferts, at about 8:20 p.m. It was unclear who fired first, the police said.

The store owner was taken to Kings County Hospital Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
One of the dead men was inside the store and the other was on the street not far away, the police said. They did not immediately release the men’s names.
Witnesses say a group of alleged robbers went into the store and somehow ended up in a shootout with the owner.
Police say two of the suspected robbers were shot and killed. The rest of the group allegedly fled.
