
The trial against the six Shomrim volunteers reconvenes today at 9:30am through 2:00pm, and the residents of the community are asked to please come down to the courthouse and show your support. Dispel the rumors and propaganda, see the facts for yourself.

CrownHeights.info, Chabad.org and Jewish.tv presents a live broadcast memorial service being held tonight at 8pm in honor of Gabi and Rivki Holtzberg’s yahrtzeit at Chabad of the Upper East Side.
The memorial will include an address by Rabbi Gabi Holtzberg’s father, Rabbi Nachman Holtzberg, the patron of the Rohr Chabad House in Mumbai and philanthropist, Mr. George Rohr, and Rabbi Binyomin Krasiansky as well as a memorial performance by Avraham Fried and musical tribute by Moshe Nunez. The event will take place at Chabad of the Upper East Side.

The Shloshim for Devorah Nechama OBM (Bloch) Neuwirth will be take place tomorrow, Thursday, Chof Hay Cheshvan - November 12, 2009 at Lubavitcher Yeshiva 570 Crown Street, entrance on Albany avenue, at 9 pm.
Special presentation will honor the memory of Devorie OBM. Your presence and participation will give an Aliya and give Kavod to the Nshoma of the Nfteres.

In a letter sent home from schools, community physicians warn of a Mumps outbreak in our community. The note said that “although at this time seems concentrated amongst adolescent boys; we expect will spread further throughout the community.” The note goes on to explain what the symptoms are and how to go about treating it.

The presentation of testimony at the trial of Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin in South Dakota has ended. The defense has rested.
Monday morning, 22 Cheshvan, the lawyers will present final arguments. And then the case will go to the jury for deliberation.

Monday there will be a rally at the Ohel for all children ages 5-12. Busses will be leaving from 770 at 5:00pm, $3.00.

Tonight, Motzoai Shabbos at 2:00am we change our clocks 1 hour back to 1:00am, and gain an hour of sleep.

For the first time, JLI’s Advanced Learning Initiative, MyShiur is now available to Anash in the Crown Heights community in a special shiur presented by the course author. The new course, Explorations in Talmud: Tractate Shabbat, is geared to students without any prior Gemorah experience as well as to seasoned learners. It will include an examination of the biblical sources for the 39 melachot as well as a foundational study of underlying principles that define the term melachah.

There will be a global Tzivos Hashem Cheshvon rally live on the internet on Thursday at 1pm EST. Close to 2000 kids signed up to the program already with many more children from around the world expected to be watching the rally live online.

Every weeknight over 350 boys from grades 5-8 get together in three different locations throughout the community for an hour of learning.
The boys spend their time reviewing the Gemara and Rashi inside, doing their homework with the help of our devoted Madrichim, as well as learning Mishnayos, Gemara and Tanya by heart. There is also a Shiur every night in a Sicha of the Rebbe, Halacha, Chassidishe story etc. The program ends with a Minyan for Ma'ariv, davening at the pace of the boys.

The Crown Heights JCC has once again arranged with the Forestry division of the NYC Parks Dept. to have all the S’chach picked up starting Wednesday, October 14th until the end of the week.

Alternate side parking (street cleaning) regulations will be suspended Monday, October 12 for Columbus Day. All other regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect on Saturday and Monday.

A Yom Tefillah and rally was arranged by the committee of Pidyon Shevuyim for a miraculous victory for Sholom Mordechai Rubaskin. They arranged a rally at the Ohel on Monday October 12th, Isru Chag, the day before the court case. Buses will 770 at 2:30pm and will return at 5:00pm for children 5 to 12. $3 bus fare.

Monday, the first day of Chol HaMoed, Tzivos Hashem will host their 29th annual Sukkos Experience on Kingston Ave. There will be mechanical rides, inflatable rides a petting Zoo, pony rides, hay rides and much more. There also be food stands and a Sukkah on premises. They are going to be open on Monday at 12:00pm through 6:00pm, on Kingston Ave [between Carroll St and Eastern Pkwy].
Over Shabbos motorists are asked not to park on the following two streets:
* Kingston between Carroll and President
* Eastern Parkway between Kingston and Albany [Service Lane]
Starting at 4:00pm on Shabbos day police will be relocating cars to enable the prompt beginning of Kapores after Shabbos.
